How to use grape protection bag correctly?

Correct use of grape protection bag is an important management measure in the process of grape planting. It helps to protect grape fruits from pests and diseases, bird pecking, wind and rain damage and reduce pesticide residues, thereby improving the yield and quality of grapes.

1. Choose the right protection bag
Material selection: Grape protection bag has a variety of materials, common ones are paper (such as kraft paper, waterproof paper), plastic (such as polyethylene, polypropylene) and non-woven fabrics. When choosing, it is necessary to consider regional climate conditions, types of pests and diseases, and environmental protection requirements. For example, in areas with more rain, materials with good waterproof properties should be selected; while in orchards that focus on environmental protection, degradable paper materials are more likely to be selected.
Specification matching: The specifications of grape protection bag should be determined according to grape variety, fruit size and growth habits. Generally speaking, the bag should be able to completely cover the grape fruit and leave appropriate space for the fruit to grow, while avoiding being too large to cause the bag to loosen or too small to affect the fruit development.

2. Preparation before bagging
Pest and disease control: Before bagging, grapes should be subjected to comprehensive pest and disease control to ensure that there are no pests and diseases left on the surface of the fruit. This helps reduce the occurrence of pests and diseases after bagging.
Bunch arrangement: Remove diseased, small, deformed and overcrowded fruits to keep the bunches at a reasonable load, which is conducive to fruit development and bagging operations.
Spraying treatment: Before bagging, fungicide or insecticide can be sprayed once to further reduce the base number of pests and diseases. However, it should be noted that after spraying, the bagging operation should be carried out after the liquid is completely dry.

3. Bagging operation
Open the bag: Gently open the opening of the grape protection bag, and be careful not to damage the bag.
Put in the bunch: Gently put the grape bunch into the bag, making sure that the fruit is completely inside the bag, and the bottom of the bag is close to the branches or leaves below the bunch.
Fix the bag: Use a string or clip to fix the opening of the bag to the branch above the bunch to ensure that the bag does not loosen or slip. Be careful not to tighten too much when fixing to avoid strangling branches or fruits.

IV. Management after bagging
Regular inspection: After the grape protection bag is installed, the bag should be checked regularly to see if it is complete, firm, damaged or loose. If any problems are found, they should be dealt with in a timely manner, such as replacing new bags or re-fixing.
Pest and disease control: Although bagging can reduce the occurrence of pests and diseases to a certain extent, it is still necessary to regularly monitor the pest and disease situation in the orchard and carry out prevention and control as needed.
Water and fertilizer management: Strengthen the water and fertilizer management of the vineyard to ensure the healthy growth of grape plants and improve the quality and yield of the fruit.
Timely harvesting: Harvest the fruit in time according to the grape variety and maturity. Be careful when harvesting to avoid damaging the bag and the fruit.

V. Precautions
Environmental protection requirements: When choosing a grape protection bag, environmental protection requirements should be considered, and bags made of degradable materials should be preferred to reduce pollution to the environment.
Cost control: Under the premise of ensuring the protection effect, the cost of using the protection bag should be reasonably controlled to avoid wasting resources.
Technical training: Strengthen technical training for fruit farmers to improve their skills and awareness of the correct use of grape protection bags.
